I have a 9' x 3' area. I am using 12" x 24" x 3/8" tiles, with a 1/4" grout gap. I am putting down 1/4" hardibacker on top of plywood. I will be using a 1/2" x 1/2" x 1/2" sq trowel for the tile, and a 1/4" sq trowel for putting down the backerboard. So, most of the calculators that I have found do not work with non-square tile.It is made of polyethylene creating a waterproofing layer protecting the substrate. Ditra can be installed over a variety of subfloors including concrete, plywood, OSB and radiant heated floors. Ditra-XL is 5/16 in. thick which allows for even transitions between tile and 3/4 in. hardwood flooring.
