The game’s first expansion Ashes of Urk’Rok released October 27th, 2014 and the second expansion Embers of Rage on February 23rd, 2016. A friend of mine wanted me to make a poll here. Totally new to roguelikes and he's deciding between these two (I suggested ToME, but he'd rather start with one of these). He wants to sink his teeth into one roguelike for many years, and would like one with an active community surrounding it. Both DCSS and Angband seem to fit the bill. Cheers.
