I have used and still have 750 RP20 wads. For the past 15yrs I have used SP20 wads and I have also loaded 1-1/8oz loads in the STS hulls using the SP20 wad. The RXP20 shot cup depth is 7/8" with smooth petals and the SP20 is 1" with stitched petals and ribs. In the Federal hull I would try the fed 20S1 or clone to stop powder migration unless you shoot them right away.A change in hulls or wads makes a huge difference. I've tried some of the published loads but didn't have great results. Finally tried Rem plastic hulls (STS), SP20 wads and longshot. Perfect everytime now. The Wad on the left is an RXP20 and the one on the right is a Remington Wad I'm trying to identify. I'd believe it to be one of the following: W29944, W29942 or W23678 or a R20 or RP20. The cup dimensions appear to be the same, just the base is shorter on the yellow wad.Shortest - RXP-20 and Versalite-20. RXP is tapered, but what is probably more of an issue is that the OP section of the wad is very shallow. I believe a long OP cup can expand to get a good seal on a tapered wad. RXP-20s are short, tapered, and have a tiny OP cup....a three time looser in a Federal/Estate hull.

It really depends on what powder you're using, and consequently the volume, if you're using Unique, you're in trouble, if you're using WSF you have more options. Using the SP20 wad in the STS case left way too much extra room in the hull, and substituting a RXP20 gave me funny sounding shells. Another load that I came across today would be: STS case, Win Primer, 21.5gr Blue Dot, SP20, 1oz lead, for 10,600 PSI (200 psi more than my regular 7/8oz target load w/ Universal Clays).
